In October 2025, the UK Science & Technology Network in San Francisco held a roundtable with Lord Vallance, Minister of State for Science. During this event which brought together the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, senior Stanford academics involved in SU2P, UC Berkeley’s Office of Government Relations, Optica, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and C-suite representatives from California-headquartered quantum companies, discussions focused on how the partnership can drive high-value job creation, attract capital investment, and stimulate economic growth in both Scotland and California.
The roundtable provided a timely platform to introduce SU2P to California State representatives, following the recent enactment of legislation requiring GO-Biz to develop a Quantum Industry Strategy by July 2026. This strategy aims to cement California’s global leadership in quantum technologies, with a focus on job creation, investment, and strategic partnerships.
