For the relaunch of SU2P, a Scotland – California Photonics Partnership bringing together leading universities in the UK with Stanford and linking strongly with industrial partners in both countries, a delegation comprising senior academics from the five participating Scottish universities and Scotland-based photonics companies visited the Bay Area.
The engagement which was anchored around the Stanford Photonics Research Center Annual Symposium included speaking opportunities for Scottish academics at the Symposium, a technology showcase for UK companies as part of the Symposium’s programme, remarks by the San Francisco Consul General at the Symposium dinner, networking drinks with the wider Bay Area photonics ecosystem, and an SU2P workshop bringing together academics and industry affiliates from both regions to discuss opportunities for collaborative research and innovation.
This engagement helped refine research areas of common interest for academic collaborations, outline mechanisms to establish activities, and identify opportunities for industry engagement.
