About SU2P
Overview
SU2P is the reincarnation of a successful ‘Science Bridges’ programme funded by RCUK in the early 2010s. It has been relaunched with approximately £300,000 of FCDO and DSIT Tactical Funds to facilitate academic and industry links across the two regions through researcher exchanges, joint projects with industry affiliates, and mutual participation in regional convenings bringing together researchers, industry leaders, and the investment community.
Capitalising on world-leading research and innovation in Scotland and California, this new ‘SU2P’ initiative is designed to build a crucial skills pipeline in photonics and quantum, accelerate entrepreneurship and commercialisation, and increase trade and investment opportunities between the two regions.
In its first stage, the initiative focuses on:

Establishing and strengthening research partnerships and launching joint projects through researcher exchanges between Stanford and the five participating Scottish universities (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot-Watt, St Andrews, and Strathclyde);

Securing industry partnerships in Scotland and California; and

Developing a community of Scottish and Californian researchers, investors, and businesses working in photonics and quantum through regional convenings.
